The indwelling of Christ in believers IS true. This is the prayer of Paul to God’s holy people in Ephesus that Christ will live in the heart of each one of them. Paul wants the indwelling of Christ to be true of them. As of him he says, “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ live in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me”. (Galatians 2:20 NIV). How true is this statement in believers today that Christ lives in us, as we live each day how true is this statement in our lives? How conscious are we of the presence of Christ in us. The indwelling of Christ in our heart is by faith, we must first accept him into our heart and then establish a personal practical relationship with him.
For Christ to dwell in your heart you must choose not to live according to the flesh, apostle Paul said I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live but Christ lives In me. The reason for the indwelling of Christ in the heart of Paul is because he chose not to live, he chose to die and allow Christ to live in him. Colossians 3:3-4 you died which means that your life is hidden with Christ who sits beside God. Christ gives meaning to your life and when he appears you will also appear with him in glory,(contemporary version). For Christ to be your life you must first die to live. To die to live means that your life is hidden with Christ and Christ becomes the standard for your living. Don’t be controlled by your body kill every desire for the wrong kind of sex. Don’t be immoral or indecent or have evil thought. Don’t be greedy, is the same as worshiping idols.(colossians 3:5 CEV) To die to live is refusing to be controled by your body, not allowing the flesh to take over you. Note that if Christ is not manifesting in you, you are not yet dead. It is either Christ in you or the flesh in you manifesting. To die to live is to kill every evil desire or is to put to death whatever that belongs to your earthly nature. It means putting to death anything in you that does not belong to God. It is to die to sin. When God says have you considered my servant Job (Job 1:8) the devil answered, does job fear God for nothing? So many people today are not dead because of the love they have for earthly things. But for you to die and live you have to love God and have a relationship with him not because you need material things but because of who He is. You have to love him more than you love your wife, husband, children or friends. Luke 14;26 you cannot be my disciple unless you love me more than you love your father and your mother, your wife and children’s and your brothers and sisters. You cannot follow me unless you love me more than you love you own life (luke 14:26). Christ cannot dwell in you if you love your life more than him, you must be willing to die, and unless you death to the things of the flesh you cannot experience the indwelling of Christ in you. In John1 we are made to understand that in the beginning was the one who is called the Word. The Word was with God and was truly God. From the very beginning the Word was with God and with the Word God created all things. Nothing was made without the Word. Everything that was created received its life from Him and His life gave light to everyone. We understand the Word is Christ himself, and unless one’s heart is wholly given to God the word which is Christ cannot dwell in a persons heart.
test yourself and find out if you are really and true to your faith. If you pass the test, you discover that Christ is living in you. But if Christ is not living in you, you have failed (2 Corinthian 13:5).
The Bible said test your self and see if Christ is dwelling inside of you. You need to daily test yourself every second to confirm the indwelling of Christ in you at all time. As you walk to your office, as you attend lectures in school, as you talk with friend and family you need to be testing your self to be sure that Christ is the reasons for your action and your responses to the issues of life. Paul wants the indwelling of Christ to be true in the life of believers at Ephesus and he prayed for them. How true the indwelling of Christ in your life. As you meditate on the Word of God, to daily test yourself, may you experience the presence of God inside of you 24/7, may this phrase ‘’Christ in me’’ be true of you, may people see Christ manifesting in you, may this be your testimony that Christ is in your Life. In Jesus name. GOD BLESS YOU.
