The Central Area Of Human Personality

There is an area central to human personality and decisive to human’s destiny which the Bible calls the heart.  The bible recorded that “The heart is deceitful above all things, and it is exceedingly perverse and corrupt and severely, mortally sick! Who can know it [perceive, understand, be acquainted with his own heart and mind]?” (Jeremiah 17:9).

Prov 4:23
Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.

whatever rules your heart determines the course of your life. What rules your heart will either make your or destroy you. Whatever you hold in your mind will tend to occur in your life. If you continue to believe as you have always believed, you will continue to act as you have always acted. If you continue to act as you have always acted, you will continue to get what you have always gotten. If you want different results in your life or your work, all you have to do is change your mind. you need to guard your heart therefore more carefully than any area of your being. Be continually watchful first of all in all things concerning what you allow into your heart. You need to guard what you watch (Films and places you go to), what you think, what you hear (Music, Jokes, Talks and teaching etc.) what you read and be very careful concerning what you release out of your heart because what comes out of the heart defiles a man. Set a guard over your heart to refuse admission to all, concerning what you allow into your heart. Don’t indulge in flirtations of superficial relationships. What occupies your heart can hinder even your prayers from being answered. The psalmist said “if I regard iniquity in my heart, the lord will not hear me” (psalms 66:18). for us to be sure of answers to our prayers then we need to keep our heart pure. The psalmist has also discovered a remedy to the problem of the heart when he said, “your word have I laid up in my heart, that I might not sin against You” (Ps 119:11). When God want to pick a man for kingdom assignment, he does not look at his physical appearance such as height, status, charisma, or how acceptable he is to men. The Lord looks at the content of a heart. What occupies your heart makes you acceptable or not acceptable before God.

But the Lord said to Samuel, look not on his appearance or at the height of his stature, for I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees; for man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart. (1 Samuel 16:7)
