But understand this that in the last days will come will come (set in) perilous time of great stress and trouble (hard to deal with and hard to bear
(2 timothy 3:1AMP)
You may as well know this too timothy that in the last days it is going to be very difficult to be a Christian (living bible).
Prophetic disasters are period that Christians will face, but this prophecies where declared to preserve believers so that no one will lead them astray. When we are aware of how the evil days will be then we will be able to keep ourselves from being a victim of the evil days. The importance of the prophecy and warning against the perilous times cannot be over emphasized because we are living in the fulfillment of the perilous times. Dangerous, harmful, high-risk periods of time have already arrived! We are living in a generation that faces world threats no other generation has ever known and we need to know how to operate as Christians in this period.
Jesus was going out of the temple and was going away when his disciples came and point out to him the building of the temple. Jesus replied to them and said, do you seen these building, they will certainly be torn down. Not one stone will be left in place. They later meet him privately saying “tell us when these things will be and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age and Jesus answered them saying see that no one lead you astray (Mathew 24:1-4). He was like saying note those things that are going to take placed so that you will not be carried unaware by the disasters that will fall on the surface of the earth. Jesus continued saying: For many will come (on the strength) of my name (appropriating the name) which belong to me saying I am the Christ (the messiah) and they will lead many astray. (Mathew 24:5) the word that wreck my heart the in Jesus statement is “many”. But his instruction before stating to make this huge declaration is, watch, and see to it that no one lead you astray.
And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars; see that you are not frightened or troubled, for this must take place, but the end is not yet, for nations will rise against nation, kingdom against kingdoms, and there will be famines and earthquakes in place after place. (Mathew 24:6-7)
We have been hearing of rumors of wars, Many of us have face wars and some are still facing war. Kingdoms raising against Kingdoms. Jesus said “see that you are not frightened or troubled, for this must take place, but the end is not yet” wars are rumors of wars is not the end of the world but this is just the beginning of trouble (Mathew 24:8 ESV). He continued saying there will be famines and earthquakes in place after place (verse 8). The activities of war have render so many homeless in different part of the world, we can see many displace person all-over, Hundreds of millions of people are hungry and thousands die daily of starvation. The United States federal emergency management agency (FEMA) reported that the increasing number and intensity of disasters is one of the many serious problem they are facing adding that many are hungry and thousands die of starvation. There is frequent occurrence of earthquake with high magnitude in most parts of the world. We have heard by the national space research and development agency that earthquake is now a potential hazard to Nigeria due to the high rate of water extraction and recharge imbalance from the aquifer causing hydrological instability along the fracture. In Abuja, Nigeria we can see that there is now equipment that have been set for monitoring of earthquake and prevention. Wars, rumors of wars, famine and earthquake must happen but this should not alarm us or cause us to panic.
Then they will hand you over to suffer affliction and tribulation and put you to death and you will be hated by all nations for my name sake (Mathew 24:9)
Persecution and hatred are coming, it is bound to happen to every Christian. The name of Jesus is always a point of offense to the world. There is no way you can be a genuine Christian and be exempted persecution. As a result hatred Christian are denied sensible post in the government office, Job, Admission, and Many have been put to death for the sake of Christ. Indeed all who delight to in piety and are determine to live a devoted and godly life in Christ Jesus will meet with persecution (will be made to suffer because of their religious stand) [2timothy 3:12]. Be glad and supremely joyful, for your reward is great (strong and intense), for in the same way people persecuted the prophet who were before you (Matthew 5:12)
Many false Prophet will rise and deceive many leading them into error. (Mathew 24:11)
And the love of the great body of people will grow cold because of the multiplied lawlessness and iniquity. (Mathew 24:12)
Sin will be in rampart, iniquity will not only exit but will multiplied in large quantity. 2timothy 3:1-7. BUT UNDERSTAND this, that in the last days will come (set in) perilous times of great stress and trouble [hard to deal with and hard to bear]. 2 For people will be lovers of self and [utterly] self-centered, lovers of money and aroused by an inordinate [greedy] desire for wealth, proud and arrogant and contemptuous boasters. They will be abusive (blasphemous, scoffing), disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy and profane. 3 [They will be] without natural [human] affection (callous and inhuman), relentless (admitting of no truce or appeasement); [they will be] slanderers (false accusers, troublemakers), intemperate and loose in morals and conduct, uncontrolled and fierce, haters of good. 4 [They will be] treacherous [betrayers], rash, [and] inflated with self-conceit. [They will be] lovers of sensual pleasures and vain amusements more than and rather than lovers of God. 5 For [although] they hold a form of piety (true religion), they deny and reject and are strangers to the power of it [their conduct belies the genuineness of their profession]. Avoid [all] such people [turn away from them]. 6 For among them are those who worm their way into homes and captivate silly and weak-natured and spiritually dwarfed women, loaded down with [the burden of their] sins [and easily] swayed and led away by various evil desires and seductive impulses. 7 [These weak women will listen to anybody who will teach them]; they are forever inquiring and getting information, but are never able to arrive at a recognition and knowledge of the Truth.
Lovers of self: people will become selfish. They will only think of what will benefit them without the regarding others. They will do anything possible to satisfy themselves without thinking of whether their action affect others or not. This is lifestyle is contrary to the Gospel teaching that says Let each regard others highly and superior to himself (thinking of one another than you do for yourself) and Looking not only to your own interest but also the interest of others. (Philippians 2:1-4).
Lovers of money: there will be inordinate greedy desires for wealth. People will be engage into different unrighteous deal just to earn money. They will put biblical instruction aside for the sake of money. They will twist the scripture for their own gain, they will tell you that this is not church, give what is for Caesar’s to Caesar and what is of God to God. It has also creep into the church where you see church workers blinded for the sake of money, twisting the scriptures bringing up new doctrines to rub church members.
Children disobedient to parent: everyone you see in the society today is form from the family and many children today don’t have respect to their parents. If they don’t have respect to their parent how will they have respect to elderly people in the society and to God? People will be living contrary to the biblical instructions that said treat all older men as fathers, younger men as brother, older women as sisters and younger women as sisters in all purity (I1 timothy 5:1-2). They society will be full of arrogant children that have no respect to the society. Children will be growing without Godliness.
Trouble makers: there will be people that are just interested in looking for trouble, discomforting others.
Lose in moral and conduct: society that will be immoral in there conduct. They will not conform to the biblical accepted standard of morality. Some Christians may possibly accept biblical authority on many issue but will seems to be struggling when it comes to morality and lifestyle choice. They will keep biblical value aside and follow post-modern culture.
Lovers of sensual pleasures and vain amusement more than they love God: they will love pleasure, they will do things to bring pleasure to themselves rather than to God. 1 john 5: 3 said for the true love of God is this: that we do his commands (keep his ordinance and are mindful of his precepts and teaching) and these orders of his are not irksome (burdensome, oppressive, or grievous). But in this case men will prefer to satisfy self than to please God. The bible also make us to know in 2peter 3:3 that people will come and follow their own fleshy desire. Even church service today is turning into a gathering for self-pleasure, the church is borrowing the worldly culture for self-pleasure.
Turning aside from hearing the truth: for the time is coming when people will not tolerate (endure) sound and wholesome instruction, but, having ears itching (for something pleasing and gratifying), they will gather to themselves one teacher after another to a considerable number, chosen to satisfy their own liking and to foster the error they hold, and will turn aside from hearing the truth and wonder off into myths and manmade fictions. (2timothy 4:3-4). Some church today do give their pulpit to comedians and entertainers, people only want what they want to hear, they chose the message they will listen to instead of allowing God to give them the message they ought to listen. They will not want to listen to biblical instruction but will want to listen to message of prosperity. They will love to sit comfortably in church as sinners.
Given attention to deluding and seducing spirit and doctrines that demons teach: but the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times some in the church will turn away from Christ and become eager followers of teachers with devil-inspired ideas. These teachers will tell lies with straight faces and do it so often that their conscience won’t even bother them. (1timothy 4:1-2).
I will wish to advise you to further take a deep personal study in the word of God on the prophetic operation. So many prophecies have been made about the period of prophetic disasters that were not listed here which include prophecy of Daniel, and the revelation of Jesus to church through John the beloved, which are all written to provide hope and encouragement to believers.
